You might have heard about the many women who are now incorporating vitamin-C serums into their beauty regimen and wondered what the big deal is about. Well allow me to shed some light on the subject for you!

A look at what is inside

As the name suggests the key ingredient in the serum is vit-C. “Why vitamin C?” you may ask. Well, another name for this vital vitamin is ascorbic acid and a variant of this, called the L-ascorbic acid is what is used as the active ingredient in vitamin-C serums. L-ascorbic acid is considered to be a super antioxidant that helps to protect the skin from damage caused by ultra violet rays, while stimulating collagen production in the skin. This is important because the skin needs collagen in order to remain supple and youthful and this is what the serum helps to do.

Some serums may also include other active ingredients which help to improve its effectiveness on different skin types. Some of these serums will also have vitamin E as an active ingredient. This is because it is a powerful antioxidant and it is great at reducing lines and wrinkles as well as protecting the skin from the sun. Serums containing vitamin E as an active ingredient may not be the best thing for you if you your skin is oily or prone to acne. Another active ingredient that may be used is hyaluronic acid. This is a great moisturizing agent which really hydrates the skin. Adding this to the serum helps to counter the dehydrating effects of L-ascorbic acid. Ferulic acid is another active ingredient that may be added to the serum. This is also a great antioxidant that helps to fight the effects of aging on the skin.

My Experience & Review Of Cosmetic Skin Solutions Product

I am thirty something years old and much to my dismay I see lines on my forehead, jowl lines and just an overall dullness of my skin. This led me to try a vit-C serum a few years ago but when I did I had to stop after I used it about once or twice because I developed a skin irritation. For quite a while after that episode I thought about finding another trusted brand of that serum but didn’t quite get around to it. A few months ago however, my mom was given a bottle of vit-C serum which she used on her hands and her face.  After a few weeks of using it we were amazed by the results. Her age spots on her hands and face have been so thoroughly improved that now you can only see them if you are right next to her. As I’m sure you are aware, we tend to get fine lines and wrinkles around our eyes and mouth as we age but thanks to this serum the fine lines on my mother’s face has been significantly reduced!

The brand of vit-C serum that my mother was using was called SkinCeuticals. Because my mother had such amazing results, my first instinct was to use the same brand that she used but then I decided to try and find a similar product at a lower price. Upon doing some research on Amazon, I came across a brand called Cosmetic Skin Solutions. A 1oz bottle of this serum was being sold for fewer than thirty dollars on Amazon. Being that I have sensitive skin, I was quite hesitant to make the purchase, fearing that it may be a knock off.

Putting my reservations aside, I decided to purchase the Cosmetic Skin Solutions vitamin C Serum. When I started using it I was quite impressed with how it smelled. Naturally, I was worried that it would irritate my skin but it never did. This got me quite excited so I decided to go over the product description once more. When I did, I realized that in addition to vit-C, the serum also contained hyaluronic acid. Remember, this is the hydrating substance mentioned above. I think the inclusion of the hyaluronic acid helped to protect my skin from the dehydrating effects of L-ascorbic acid.

It has been two months now since I started using this serum and I have been applying it to my face every morning. Ever since I started using this product I’ve noticed that the radiance has returned to my skin. Instead of the dull, lackluster skin that existed before, I now have a becoming glow. My skin also appears to have regained some of its suppleness and the fine lines on my face have been significantly reduced. All in all I could not be happier with the results. I will keep monitoring the results though in order to identify any significant changes.

Quick Tip: Keep Your Serum Away from the Sun

Just as too much sunlight isn’t good for your skin; it isn’t good for your vit-C serum either. Because vit-C is an antioxidant, it is vulnerable to oxidation if it is left out in the sunlight or the air for too long. You should therefore ensure that you close your serum bottle tightly after each use and keep it stored in an area that is cool and dark. If your serum starts changing color this may be an indication that it has been oxidized.
